Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: We travel to our hotel.
Day 2: This morning we head to the charming village of Grasmere to visit Wordsworth, Grasmere - including Dove Cottage, the home of poet William Wordsworth from 1799 to 1808, and the Wordsworth Museum. The centre has recently undergone a 6 million pound renovation making it a must-see even for repeat visitors. Our tour continues with a scenic drive along beautiful Coniston Water. We take a steam train ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway to the southern tip of Lake Windermere before taking a cruise up the lake to Bowness. There's free time to explore this popular lakeside town.
Day 3: A morning visit to the historic market town of Kendal, famous for its narrow lanes, ancient yards and Kendal Mint Cake. In the afternoon, visit the National Trusts, Sizergh Castle, home to the Strickland family for more than 750 years, the castle is set in acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and finished with fine English and French furniture and family portraits.
Day 4: Today we join the 'Mountain Goat' for an adventure into the mountains, on roads where our large coaches cannot go. We explore the western part of the Lakes by discovering the spectacular passes such as Wrynose and Hardknott. Both these passes boast extraordinary scenery and make an incredible driving experience driving over. You'll head toward the impressive Wastwater, England's deepest and most spectacular lake. Then you'll make your way over to Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and enjoy a ride along a heritage railway whilst enjoying the views of the Eskdale Valley.
Day 5: Homeward bound.
