Bodelwyddan Castle is also home to the National Portrait Gallery's Victorian Collection. The gardens were designed by Thomas Mawson in 1910. The garden wall was built in the 1830’s and was heated to encourage the growth of fruit trees. The grounds include formal gardens, woodland walks, historical sites and even a maze to negotiate.
Day 1 After our local pick-ups, we commence our journey to Bodelwyddan Castle making a suitable stop for a leisurely lunch before reaching our 3 star Warner hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 2 Today, we will explore at leisure the beautiful historic city of Chester, which has the most complete city walls and largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old cathedral and 700 year old unique shopping rows.
Day 3 Today is a free day to explore our surroundings and facilities at our Warner Leisure Hotel.
Day 4 After breakfast we will travel through spectacular scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, to the seaside town of Porthmadog, to board the train on the Ffestiniog Railway. Sit back and relax as we enjoy the 13 mile journey with dramatic views of the mountains, lakes and waterfalls. The track climbs 700 feet above sea level as we journey towards the famous slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog known as the heart of the national park. Our coach will then meet us and we will travel to Betws-y-Coed, where we will have free time to explore this pretty town and its lovely quaint shops and traditional pubs. We will then return to our hotel for dinner.
Day 5 After breakfast we depart our hotel and return home making a suitable stop to allow you to purchase lunch and stretch your legs before we continue our journey home.
